Time to start solid foods!

The doctor said it was definitely time to start me on some real food. So Mom and Dad got a sweet potato and went to work.

Here's Mom chopping it up, getting ready to steam and smush it.

Here's Kody, making sure it looks OK for me to eat.

And here's me, very excited to give it a try!

And then...here's the video of my very first experience with real food:

Not a resounding success! So we tried again, this time with Dad in control of the airplane/spoon:

Oh well, maybe I'll like it better tomorrow!

UPDATE from my doc appt

I had my 6-1/2 month check up on June 25th. More shots--boo!--but I recovered. My current weight is 19.5 pounds, which puts me around the 75th percentile. (Mom and Dad are dubious on this one--they think I'm definitely heavier than that!) My height is 29 inches, which puts me literally OFF THE CHARTS. Not 100th percentile, off the charts. I'm a tall boy!

Big-boy bath!

Well, sort of. I'm definitely too big for the kitchen sink, but not quite stable enough to sit in the tub by myself. So now I'm in my tub, in the big tub. There's so much room to splash and play!

What fun!

Hi ho, hi ho...

...it's off to work with Daddy I go!

I just hang out in the pack-n-play right there in the middle of the stores and check out the new wines.

Oh, and I look cute, too, and that helps sales!

Naked Baby!!!

The other night Mom and Dad got me out of the bath but--oops!--didn't have any diapers handy. So I got to play naked in my crib for a few minutes.

Reading in the buff is so much fun!

But you do have to be careful about dropping and picking up your books.

There's another really cute one, but Mom would be arrested if she posted it...

The joys of a good book.

Dad still reads me a story every night before bed. But sometimes I get stories during the day, too, for no reason at all!

Here's Mom reading me one of my favorites:

Ha ha, that's a good story!

I still love my bath!

It's one of my favorite parts of the day. First I get in and play and splash around a little.

Then mom washes my face and my body.

And then Dad washes my hair. Sometimes he likes to play, too...

And then we dry my hair, and it's time to get out and go to bed!

A visit from Nana!

My nana came to visit me! (Someone said she really came for my Mom's birthday, but I'm not buying it.) At first I was a little unsure...I mean, it's been about 4 months since I saw her last--and that's more than half my life!

But once she held me I started to remember her...

And then we had so much fun together!

And now I can stand, too!

A few days after I learned to sit by myself, I learned to pull myself up to standing.

At first, Mom had to help a little.

And then she had to cheer me on.

And then I did it all by myself.

Look at me!

Like father, like son.

Now that I'm crawling, I can get into all kinds of things. I decided to select a nice red wine for our dinner the other night.

Hmmm, does Merlot go with breastmilk?

Yes, we'll have this one!

I can sit up!

According to the books, I was supposed to do this before I crawled. But I can't read...so I crawled first, sat second.

Kody likes playing with me on the floor even more now!

And I can entertain myself in my crib in all kinds of new ways.

I especially like it when Opa sits on the floor with me.

Three cute pix

Nothing to say about these, really; they're just three nice pictures of me!

Family portrait

It's not that often that me and Mom and Dad can have a picutre of all three of us together. Here are two!

My first trip to the beach

I went to the beach for the very first time! First Mom put me down on the sand...

And I started to explore.

It felt funny on my hands...

And tasted funny in my mouth!

All in all it was a great day. I can't wait until it warms up (it's been a chilly June!) so I can come back!
